H5P Questions

Image Choice Activities

This word stress activity asks students to listen to the words and select the card that shows the correct stress pattern. It exposes learners to authentic pronunciation, intonation, and natural speech patterns. Here’s how I made it:

First, I listed words with different syllables and stress locations.

I record the words with a mic. I used Audacity to edit the audio. However, H5P also has an audio recorder content type.

I created each syllable card and some distractors using Google Slides.

Finally, I put it all together in H5P, Quiz (Question Set) then image choice.

Drag the Words with Distractors

H5P has recently added the ability to add distractors to ‘drag the words’ questions.

This example about extra pronouns addresses an error I often hear my Saudi English language students make.

I used playground.com to generate the images.

Then put it together in H5P drag text.

Drag the Words Activities

A simple reading comprehension activity where students need to drag the words to complete the sentence. It’s based on a CEFR level A1 English language textbook. I wrote the text myself then asked Google Gemini to check that CEFR level.

Another drag the words task about past tense verbs written for a local Saudi context.

Speak the Words Set

A quiz that uses microphone input to say the answers. It’s a good opportunity to provide students with automatically graded pronunciation practice. It works in the Chrome browser only.
